The prosecution alleged that the offence was motivated by transphobia and therefore a “hate crime”. R v MYK Represented a youth defendant who has been charged with firearms offences in the West Midlands. During proceedings, it was evident that the defendant is vulnerable by virtue of his age and the fact that he has been exploited by older, more experienced, criminals. Not guilty verdicts were recorded in relation to the firearms offences.
